Stieglitz' original letters to Carl Zigrosser are interleaved with typed copies of some of the letters. Topics covered in Stieglitz' letters to Carl Zigrosser include John Marin and his work; the disposition of Camera Work; life and the weather at Lake George; Stieglitz' health and his work; Georgia O'Keeffe and her work; invitations to Lake George; Wanda Gàg; purchases from the Weyhe Gallery; details of an exhibition of the work of Arthur Dove; arrangements for Stieglitz' collection of early photographs to go to the Metropolitan Museum of Art in 1933; the state of Stieglitz' commercial galleries; compliments on Zigrosser's writing; a 1937 letter that complains that he (Steigliz) has done no new work in 2 years; a brief history of "291;" congratulations on Zigrosser's 1944 catalog of the Stieglitz Collection for an exhibition at the Philadelphia Museum of Art; and a letter from Jerome Mellquist informing Zigrosser of the stroke Stieglitz experienced before his death. Included with the correspondence from Alfred Stieglitz is a quantity of printed matter and correspondence from others. The printed matter includes exhibition catalogs and announcements for exhibitions of the work of Stieglitz and other artists; a brochure for Camera Work printed in 1924 by the Weyhe Gallery; an appreciation of O'Keeffe by Oscar Bluemner; a copy of hte 1934 December issue of Wings featuring Stieglitz; clippings and magazine articles about Stieglitz; drafts and notes for Zigrosser's catalog of the Stieglitz Collection exhibited at the Philadelphia Museum of Art; obituaries for Stieglitz; a 1949 press release annoucing the Philadelphia Museum of Art receiving a portion of the Stieglitz Collection; material concerning the Stieglitz Collection's tour to Fisk University and the Taft Museum; an issue of Camera Work inscribed to Carl Zigrosser by Alfred Stieglitz; and a folder of checklists and drafts for the Philadelphia Museum of Art's catalog of the Steiglitz Collection. Interleaved with the Stieglitz correspondence are letters from other people: drafts of Zigrosser's letters, drafts of Zigrosser's essays about Stieglitz, letters from Dorothy Norman (some concerning a special issue of Twice A Year to be devoted to Stieglitz), and letters from Georgia O'Keeffe and others concerning the tour of the Stieglitz Collection.
