|Notes:||Two reprints of a series of articles analyzing south Florida court systems and their reliance on plea bargaining as a way of dealing with heavy caseloads and antiquated laws, resulting in more crime, less punishment, and freedom for scores of criminal defendants. The series was customized for Dade County and for Broward County; there is one reprint of each series. Includes also photocopies of articles documenting changes brought about by the eight-part series, originally published in The Miami herald, Aug. 28-Sept. 5, 1994.
Reported by Jeff Leen, Don Van Natta Jr. (Dade County), Ronnie Greene (Broward County); computer research by Stephen K. Doig.
