• I hope to make a suit of aerial root system by which to investigate the effect of plant hormone on kernel growth in maize. My thinking points are as follows: 1,There are several tiers of nodal root (aerial root) in maize。According to Hoppe(1986) , 6th tier usually grow near surface of the field, 7th ones are the most strong while the 8th ones are not prosperous。2,The higher tiers (8th ,9th and 10<sup>th</sup> ) of nodal roots could be induced by ethrel sprayed on leaves. 3, Lateral roots and hairs from the aerial root could be induced with some methods including cutting tip , immersing in soil soup autoclaved(sterilized by steam under pressure )and long-Fibered Sphagnum Moss with IBA treatment.
• I would appreciate it very much if some person would modify and refine the points described above.
