Abstract:

Join OCLC's Mr. Dewey and his Dot for a light-hearted ride on the Internet. The open-minded Mr. Dewey and his TV-loving friend, Dot, leave the comfort of their library home to "surf cyberspace," confronting fuming futurists who declare the demise of libraries. Mr. Dewey and Dot fight back, with words and call numbers, to assert the continuing presence and need for libraries "as long as there are people who seek information, knowledge, and wisdom."

First presented on June 27, 1994, at the OCLC President's Luncheon at the American Library Association Conference in Miami Beach, Fla., this four-minute program was shown again at the close of the International Videoconference on the Electronic Library, sponsored by OCLC and its Regional Networks on Oct., 4, 1994.
