Language Note: Most leaves have captions in English, French, and Italian.
Notes: Possibly Shesgreen's 5th edition, 1st impression, the first ed. to contain all 74 plates, which was advertised in the Term Catalogue for Trinity Term 1689.
Consists of 2 title pages (leaves [1] and [31]) and 72 ill. of London peddlers, street performers, and others. Copies vary in the ordering of leaves. Cf. Shesgreen.
Leaves are signed: MLauron delin: P. Tempest exc. Cum Privilegio; leaves [58] and [69] have additional engraved signature: I. Savage sculp.; leaf [71] "The Spanish fryar" is unsigned.
The leaves have no foliation, which was added in later editions.
Engraved throughout.
The Widener Collection copy is on mixed paper stocks, but primarily on paper watermarked with a Strasbourg lily.
