Viola da gamba player Jordi Savall
"Curators and art exhibitors Chippy Coates and Richard Scarry, based in Bristol, England, have been blogging about art and artists who inspire them since 2009. Within a couple of years the fan base for the blog grew, and - encouraged by their fans - they started to show and sell art. Until the end of this month, they are curating the exhibition Trailblazers at the Above Second gallery in Sai Ying Pun"--RTHK web site.
"The Spanish viol player Jordi Savall is also a conductor, composer, academic, and researcher. Since the 1970s he has been one of the major figures in discovering and reintroducing to the public much early Western and Middle Eastern music. He has founded three music ensembles dedicated not only to music but also to the philosophy of breaking down international boundaries. One of his greatest triumphs is in bringing the viola da gamba, a precursor of the cello, back into the musical scene. On 2nd March, he was in Hong Kong to perform, and we caught up with him while he was here"--RTHK web site.
