Chiefly family letters; including 10 letters, 1810-1815, Columbia and Chester, S.C., from David Johnson's brother, Thomas Johnson, to his mother, Elizabeth Johnson, Union District, re the difficulty of his studies, expectations of boarding with the Rev. [William Bullein] Johnson, and plans to go to Philadelphia; 18 letters, 1830-1854, Columbia, Limestone Springs, and Lockhart Shoals, David Johnson to his son, Edward, re plantation management, requests for provisions, qualifications of a good teacher, the success of a doctor in Charleston in treating the deaf and blind; 2 letters, 14 June and 21 Sept. 1852, Langdon Cheves Johnson to his brother, Edward Coke Johnson, Floyd County, Ga.; and 8 letters, 18 Jan. - 31 Dec. 1866, David William Johnson to his brother, Edward Coke Johnson, re settlement of an estate.
