Delightful! Jack Gantos's book Dead End in Norvelt reminds me a Gary Paulsen's How Angel Peterson Got his Name in that it tells his own story of being a kid with humor and lots of adventure. In Jack's case he has been grounded for the summer for firing off his dad's WWII rife. His only adventures...

Delightful! Jack Gantos's book Dead End in Norvelt reminds me a Gary Paulsen's How Angel Peterson Got his Name in that it tells his own story of being a kid with humor and lots of adventure. In Jack's case he has been grounded for the summer for firing off his dad's WWII rife. His only adventures outside the house are to help an elderly neighbor who writes the local obituaries with lots of detail and amusing facts. Delightful for upper elementary and middle level readers.
