"Death In Venice" is the tragic story of a man who falls into foolish, forbidden love, only to reap his own ruin. While on holiday in Venice, a dignified older gentleman notices a teenage boy playing on the shore. The boy soon comes to represent the sleek perfection of youth, and the older man finds himself overwhelmed and obsessed with this ideal. Rich in imagery, and exploring the themes of beauty and decay, this is a disturbing memorable work. This new edition also includes seven of Mann's short stories including "Tristan", "The Child Prodigy", and "Man and Dog."
