"Deirdire", a prose version of the story of Deirdire and the sons of Uisne, was written down from the recital of John Macneill, cottar at Buaile-nam-bodach. "The lay of the children of Uisne" (Laiodh chlann Uisne), a poem which gives a different version of the story, was taken down from Donal Macphie, smith of Breubhaig.
