Notes: Molly Bang grew up in Baltimore, Maryland, child of a medical illustrator and a doctor. She has lived and worked in Japan. She has been influenced by folktales, by her own children, and by her concern that children did not learn enough about science. To the latter end, she became the co-author with Peny Chisholm, professor of ecology at MIT, of the Sunlight Series.
