Volume 2 has the title "A description of the genus pinus: illustrated with figures ... also descriptions of many other new species of the family of Coniferæ, by Aylmer Bourk Lambert ... To which is added an appendix containing an account of the Lambertian Herbarium. By Mr. [David] Don ..." and the imprint of John Gale dated 1824. A second edition of these two volumes was issued in 1828, and to these a third volume was added in 1837, in which the descriptions were also by Don.
The final section of vol. 1 (pages 87-98 and plates XXXIX-XLIII) was issued after the rest of the volume (in 1807 according to Lowndes), and this section is absent from come copies. Page 86 concludes with "The end." and Bensley's printer statement.
Volume 1 includes "Some account of the medicinal and other uses of ... pinus" by W.G. Maton (p. [65]-82).
No plate numbered VII was issued with vol. 2, in which the plates are numbered I-VI and VIII-XII.
Copies were available with hand-coloured and, apparently, additonal plates (extra plates numbered XXI, XXXIV and XXXVII have been noted). Lowndes records that twenty-five copies with plates "beautifully coloured by [William Jackson] Hooker" were offered for sale. Other sources note that Ferdinand Bauer was responsible for the hand-colouring.
The drawings for the plates were made by Ferdinand Bauer, who also etched some of the plates.
