Abstract:
Web Feet summary: It is difficult to imagine a better introduction to archaeology. It begins right at the beginning with a succinct definition of what archaeology is and an equally illuminating discussion of the differences between archaeology and paleontology, two disciplines often confused by the general public. Just remember, as DIRT makes quite clear, "Archaeologists don't do dinosaurs." After the basics have been dispensed with, visitors are free to explore the riches contained at this site. One of the most valuable features is access to the National Archaeological Database's extensive archives of reports on U.S. archaeological issues. There is also a map pinpointing archaeologi, and teachers will find the site useful for preparing a basic discussion of archaeology.
