Abstract:

Part of a 26-part introductory course in psychology that offers an overview of historic and current theories of human behavior and features demonstrations, classic experiments and simulations. Program 15 explores how psychologists systematically study the origins of self-identity and self-esteem, the social determinants of self-conceptions and society's role in shaping our ideas of who we really are. Also examines the emotional and motivational consequences of beliefs about oneself. Program 16 defines intelligence and how it is measured. Explores the field of psychological assessment--the efforts to assign values to different abilities, behaviors, and personalities.
