Abstract:

This sequel to Dune: the Butlerian Jihad, picks up two decades later, as the humans hatch plans to wrest power from the thinking robots who have taken over their world. As the stormclouds gather, five groups arm themselves from distant corners of the galaxy. In a war-weary human world, Serena Butler's forces have made only slight gains. The fearsome Cymeks plot to regain their lost power from Omnius, while Ginaz creates an elite warrior class. Elsewhere, Aurelius Venport and Norma Cenva are on the verge of discovering a way to "fold" space and travel instantly to any place in the galaxy. And on the barren planet Arrakis, Selim Wormrider and his band of outlaws take the first steps toward changing the course of history, as the Fremen.
