Reader-friendly for the general public and seasoned therapist   (2009-09-21)
new, practical, skill-focused, comprehensive, numerous examples given, very detailed index and Table of Contents
The style of the manual is jargon-free and conversational with numerous examples of the wording of therapeutic statements. Major topic areas include an explanation of the client's personal history, how to begin and deepen the counseling process, suicide prevention, helping the client learn healthy ways of relating, resolving conflict, skills for healing grief, working with specific issues in couples counseling, and much more. I highly recommend this as a training manual or text for counselors as well as a self-help personal growth and recovery guide for the general public.
