David Roberts; Louis Haghe; William Brockedon; James Duffield Harding
|Notes:||Volume 2 t.p. states "Vol.5."
Reference: Abbey, J.R. Travel, 272.
"Although published separately, these volumes are the Egyptian and Nubian section of Robert's great work, the other three volumes of which, 1842-9, usually referred to as Roberts's Holy Land ... all six volumes are in fact often found together as a set. It must have been originally the intention to issue the book under one title as Volume I-VI, but there is no hint of this on the title-page ..." Cf. Abbey, Travel.
Plates uncolored, lithographic tinting only; and mounted; otherwise as in Abbey, Travels, 272.
Revised date from Abbey no. 385 note.
Plates alternate as reduced-size illustrations, with letterpress descriptions at foot. Most engraved captions differ from Roberts' ms. notes printed on plates.
Houfe includes J.D. Harding as co-engraver, but cf. Abbey no. 385 note, disputing this claim.
