Résumé:

Frank Koester has written an illustrated guide to self-powering one's home and farm. More than that, he writes to say that electricity is not just about gadgetry or convenience, but it is about progress and success for the small farmer. He believes that manpower is the most expensive and inefficient form of work. An electric motor can do the work of a team of men at a fraction of the resources. Written in 1913, his message has a populist tone and is at times tinged with rhetoric. It is, however, an accurate forecast for things to come and a valuable glimpse into the time between horses and horsepower.
