Personal and family correspondence, poems, articles, newspaper clippings, dissertations, plays, music, filmstrips, motion pictures, biographical and genealogical materials, photographs, bibliographies, books, audiotapes, broadsides, catalogs, essays, programs, posters, and other papers, of or relating to Dickinson and her family. Subjects include her attendance at Amherst Academy and Mount Holyoke Seminary; the family home and intellectual life in Amherst; bibliographies and Dickinson memorabilia of Charles R. Green, Alfred Leete Hampson, and others; Dickinson materials held by Boston Public and other U.S. libraries; Dickinson Centennial at Chapel Hill, N.C., and the Folger Shakespeare Library, Washington, D.C., in 1986; Emily Dickinson International Society; U.S. postage stamp honoring Dickinson; publications of Mabel Loomis Todd, T.W. Higginson, and Martha Gilbert (Dickinson) Bianchi, a niece of Emily Dickinson; publishers Roberts Brothers and Hampshire Bookshop; and performances portraying Dickinson by Julie Harris and others.

Includes poems We Play at Paste (1862), A Little Madness in the Spring (1875), Immured in Heaven (1884), and I've Nothing Else to Bring (1861); and personal correspondence with Mrs. Henry Hills, Fanny Haskins Boltwood, and Helen Hunt Jackson.
