Subjects include her attendance at Amherst Academy and Mount Holyoke Seminary; the family home and intellectual life in Amherst; bibliographies and Dickinson memorabilia of Charles R. Green, Alfred Leete Hampson, and others; Dickinson materials held by Boston Public and other U.S. libraries; Dickinson Centennial at Chapel Hill, N.C., and the Folger Shakespeare Library, Washington, D.C., in 1986; Emily Dickinson International Society; U.S. postage stamp honoring Dickinson; publications of Mabel Loomis Todd, T.W. Higginson, and Martha Gilbert (Dickinson) Bianchi, a niece of Emily Dickinson; publishers Roberts Brothers and Hampshire Bookshop; and performances portraying Dickinson by Julie Harris and others.
