Abstract:

This second edition, which is intended to reflect both changes in academia and in the world since 1987, includes almost all of the 2,750 original entries -- many heavily updated -- as well as approximately 600 entirely new articles. It emphasizes religion's role within everyday life and as a unique experience from culture to culture.

by marci_ceresse (WorldCat user on 2008-09-27)

Because of my subject of interest I took volume 5, "Eternity-God" off the shelf. Each article, ranging from the "Ethiopian Church" and "Gender and Religion in North American Indian Religious Tradition" to more mainline subjects like "Feminism" and "Gnosticism," appears quite thorough and well-organized, each with an abbreviated bibliography provided at the end.
