Abstract:

Exercise and Cognitive Function in Older Adults discusses the fact that the aging population is increasing dramatically, as is the number of aging-related diseases, such as Alzheimers. Furthermore, the video points out that this escalation will have an enormous impact on the costs associated with treating this condition. In addition, the video reviews the fact that even people without dementia shows changes and reductions in cognitive performance as they age. In that regard, the video looks at physical inactivity as a significant risk factor for dementia. The video also explores the mechanisms underlying the positive effect that exercise can have on cognitive function in older adults.
