Correspondence, daybooks, ledgers, invoices, receipts, ships' papers, genealogical materials, photos, and other papers, chiefly relating to Williams's activities in the East Indian and Caribbean area trade and later coastwise shipping in Maine; and papers of his son, Robert P. Williams (1788-1851), and grandson, Alexander Williams (1818-1900), Boston booksellers, and other family members, pertaining to domestic and business matters. Includes information concerning Williams's shipwreck off Arabia in 1792 and the capture of his schooner Neuter by a British privateer off Montserrat in the West Indies in 1794.
