Fever, 1793, is one of those magnificent books where the reader is swept up into a fictional character's life and it feels so real you can imagine yourself walking through the streets of Philadelphia. The characters are well-defined, especially fourteen-year-old Mattie Cook, the strong female protagonist....

A nice addition to any library

Well written story about one girl's "growing up" during the yellow fever epidemic in Philadelphia.  The quotes at the beginning of each chapter are worth further research.  The book may have more appeal to girls as the main character is a girl.  There is also a romantic interest that...
