注意： Beaver Work Allegany Park 11-11-38. Fig. 1. The map shows the general arrangement of the dams and other work of the beavers on November 11, 1938. The partially exposed (1) pile of stored branches of winter food (poplar, willow, etc.) is located only a few feet from (2) the beaver house. Below the beaver house lies (3) the longest and highest of the dams. There are incorporated in this dam four very large, old, rotting hemlock logs, which lie at right angles to the face of the dam. Within a few days after this November survey, the beavers had raised the lower dams (4) high enough to flood the road (5) which runs parallel to the stream.
