Abstract:
Collection of miscellaneous legal, financial, and notarial documents concerning the affairs of numerous members of the Medici (in particular the heirs of Bernardo de' Medici, whose complicated will and consequent devolution of property is discussed at length in multiple financial and notarial documents) and other Florentine families, such as the Capponi, the Mannelli, the Salviati, the Ridolfi, the Ricasoli, the Detti, the Cappelli, the Betti, and others. Documents pertaining to sale and purchase of textile products, as well as debts and credits with Tuscan, Italian (from Pisa, Venice, Genoa, Pistoia, Pietrasanta, and Messina), and Spanish (from the kingdom of Naples) investors, all involving the Medici, are also present the collection. Most of the legal documents are receipts (referred to as fedi) for payments of small amounts of cash for taxes and other duties. Brief accounts of two trials, one for murder and another for attempted murder, as well as other documents dealing with prisoners and ex-prisoners who were the recipients of charitable donations, are scattered throughout the filza. A small number of other legal documents concern bird hunting regulations for the Florentine region in the 17th century.
