Summary:	The OCLC FirstSearch service encompasses several components from the user interface to the search engine. In this project, we have tried to step back from FirstSearch and design an experimental system from scratch. Our design takes into account the current usage of FirstSearch and the changes in computing and communications that have occurred since FirstSearch was introduced.
