Abstract:

Views of big band leader and arranger Fletcher Henderson approximately dating from the late 1920's to the 1950's. Images of Henderson include half and full-length studio portraits (promotional stills), one photo at piano. The collection also includes full-length group portraits of Henderson: receiving a trophy for winning Down Beat's national contest as "King of Arrangers" (along with him are Les Hite, Benny Goodman, Ed Flynn of Down Beat, Harry Goodman, and Babe Wallace); conducting the Fletcher Henderson orchestra; and seated at the piano surrounded by members of the Flectcher Henderson Orchestra, 1936.
