Frederick Douglass was born a slave. He fled slavery in 1838 and become was of the leading abolitionists of his time. David Adler is a noted biographer for young people and has proven himself yet again with this book. Recommended for intermediate elementary level students, and both middle and high school students. An excellent book for students doing research.
