Abstract:

Published transcription of the Fredericksville Parish (Albemarle and Louisa Counties, Virginia) Vestry Book that preserves the records of a key forty-four year period in the history of the Anglican Church in Virginia. Offers insights into the activities of the parish and its people through the Minutes of the vestry meetings, from the formation of the parish in 1742-43 through the disestablishment of the Anglican Church following the Revolution to the emergence of the Episcopal Church in the State of Virginia. In addition to covering parish business and accounts there are references to removals from the parish, a few deaths, accounts of the parish poor, a short list of tithe insolvents, and names of processioners. Also of interest are the processioning precincts, valuable in establishing the location of land, which are given for the years 1743, 1747, 1755, 1759, 1767, 1774, and 1783. This transcription was made from a microfilm copy from the Genealogical Society in Salt lake City and from photocopies in the Virginia State Library.
