Abstract:

This book reports the findings of a major public attitude survey about broadcasting standards. It compares some results with previous surveys published in 1993 and 2000. Broadcasting standards of balance, fairness, accuracy, and good taste and decency are explored from a range of different perspectives. Focus groups and braodcasters talk about factual programmes and talk radio in relation to balance and fairness. A discussion of good taste and decency springs from an analysis of past BSA decisions. Another consideration, the right to freedom of expression, is explored by focus groups.
