In 1930, he married Emmie Koppel (1909-2002). A newly ordained Rabbi Vida and his young wife first served a congregation in the Sudetenland of Czechoslovakia. They remained there until the Germans began annexing Czechoslovakia. The Vidas arrived in the United States in 1938. Rabbi Vida worked for congregations on the east coast and in the 1960s served for three years as an Army Chaplain in Germany. He worked with displaced persons (refugees) at the Zielsheim Camp in Germany and was a member of the Anglo-American Commission of Inquiry on Palestine.
