While I am a total fan of Johnny Depp's work...this movie left a bit to be desired for me and here is why:

  1. Jack the Ripper was simply a murderer of unfortunate women.
  2. The Masons are thorough to say the least.
  3. Ending was more Disney than Masonic.
  4. Heather Graham's performance as an unfortunate was not believable at all.

Having said that, I thought that Ian Holm was totally exceptional! This movie should be given a chance just because of Ian Holm and Johhny Depp.  Last but not least the Hughes brothers knack for adding a large portion of reality in their projects is definitely shown in this movie but you'll have to see it for yourself.  There are elements that is a hallmark of the Hughes brothers that you will not see on screen by anyone else!! Amazing, Interesting yet Disgusting!! I am ashamed to say I liked it.. anyway, check it out if you haven't already.
