Abstract:

"From the Banks of Trouant's Island was a project born from curiosity and respect. Our family's summer home is steeped in history that can be traced to the very roots of our country. As I watch my children playing on the shores of this unique and wild place, I am saddened by the fact that magical places like this are disappearing. The island has been transformed dramatically in the past ten years, as the tiny seasonal cottages and secluded tranquility give way to the determined growth of the south shore. Before the island of my childhood is forever lost to "progress," I wanted to honor the mystique of this unique place by researching its history, and giving credit to the Trouants, the family that called it home for more than three hundred years."
