This thesis aims to study the fission product behavior and actinides in the PWR primary coolant. From fuel pellet to plant wastes it is extremely important to monitor the radionuclide behavior in order to know as precisely as possible the radionuclide inventory which can have a radiological impact. The presence of fuel cladding defects involves the increase of fission product activity and a possible dissemination of fissile material. These both consequences have to be limited in order to ensure safe operating, to limit environmental impact and to optimize the NPP worker operations. This study has permitted : - the verification of theoretical assumptions and models, concerning the fission product, actinide release, with the power plant feedback; - the proposition of a global methodology permitting to detect and characterize the fuel failures; - the verification of operating conditions influence according to simulations results ; - the Review of thermodynamic database and determination of actinide/iodine speciation adapted to the primary coolant. The main contributions of the works are the proposition of criteria and tools to improve the fuel failure diagnosis, the primary coolant chemical program and the operating conditions of degassing and purification in order to control the fission product and actinide impact in the PWR primary coolant.
