Abstract:

Extensive fuel peat reserves exist in developing countries, but much is yet to be done in defining the type, fuel value and reserves. This study presents a review of fuel peat formation, types, energy content, harvesting, processing, marketing, distribution and utilization. It contains basic information on fuel peat production costs in developed countries and assesses the applicability of this technology to developing countries. A major portion of this study reviews in detail the resources and current activities in the developing countries.
