Abstract:

In the past decade, a powerful theory for designing robust control systems has emerged. Starting with a model, and a description of the uncertainty (structured, parametric etc.), a controller can be designed to meet a variety of performance specifications. This development, however, has not been accompanied by parallel development in system identification methods by which a plant model and a description of uncertainty is provided. In an attempt to bridge this gap, a new area of research in robust identification has emerged in the last few years. (AN).
