Sewn boards binding (design attributed to Gary Frost) in fleur-de-lis printed magenta paper over boards with fleur-de-lis printed white cloth on the spine; stuck-on headband at top. A silkscreened fleur-de-lis pattern in the background of the pages increases in density to the end, visually representing the mathematical concepts in the text. Gilt ornamental initials. The story of Galois printed in black type with the explanation of his theory printed in red type along the lower half of each page. The title printed in gold on the front cover.
