Abstract:
The author describes the nuclear reaction which converts hydrogen to helium, or the process of the Sun, and explains how stars evolve into red giants after most of their hydrogen is used up. He then describes the nuclear reaction in red giants as one which converts helium to beryllium 8 to carbon l2.
