The seashell and the clergyman originally produced 1928 as La coquille et le clergyman. Pantomime. Photography, Paul Guichard; screenplay, Antonin Artaud. Summary: A clergyman, committed by his calling to celibacy but in love with a romantic beauty, is afflicted by sexual torments he is unable to resolve. The surrealist film is composed of a series of episodes using Freudian imagery to express the clergyman's mental anguish.
