Abstract:

Alicia, a young Isabo tribeswoman living in a Amazonian village in the Andes, tells about the two American women anthropologists who arrive in her village of Poincushmana in Peru to study the way of life of her people. They do not even understand the villagers' explanation of their belief about the purpose of sex. Alicia cannot understand how they can be so ill-informed. Alicia helps to teach the anthropologists the ways of her tribe. In turn, the anthropologists teach Alicia that there is more to the world than just her village. The book takes an honest look at the American way of life from a different cultural perspective.
