Abstract:

Host Al Page speaks with Juan Williams, reporter for The Washington Post. They discuss the criteria one can use to rate a reporter's finished product, the significance of the development of a perspective in the telling of a story and the importance of each detail. Mr. Williams believes that a good reporter should strive for a "seamless" story that thoroughly describes the points of tension or conflict. They also discuss the negative stereotypes of minorities that have been built up by the media, the difficulty in keeping an open mind when interviewing and the problems that arise when covering stories on politicians.
