Abstract:

Host Marcia Alvar speaks with Hedrick Smith, syndicated columnist and author of The New Russians. They discuss the differences between regions that continually cause problems for the Russians, including ethnic background, political stance, and views about reform. They also discuss the changes in psychology of the Russians, the emerging Russian equivalent of the KKK, and the continual ebb and flow of the reform process. Mr. Smith concludes with an optimistic prediction for Russia's future.
