"Phillip Goss, b. 18 Nov. 1724, Brookfield Mass, pioneer, proprieteor and patriot, "called of Brookfield" ... mar. 7 June 1744, Mary Kendall b. 26 March 1721, Woburn, Mass; ... a dtr. of John Kendall and his wife Deborah Richardson of Woburn, Mass."--Goss family, P. [1]. The family " ... removed from Becket, Mass., as early as 1769, to the Wyoming Valley of the Connecticut-Susquehanna Company, now Luzerne County, Penna. ... Phillip was murdered by the Indians, at Wapwallopen, more likely on the opposite shore at Beach Haven, Salem Township, Luzerne County, Penna., 9 Nov. 1778. ... His widow, Mary (Kendall) Goss died in ... Huntington Township, Luzerne County, Penna., 18 April 1821 ... and was buried on the Goss Family Plot ... at the old "Scott Cemetery on the road to Waterton, below Huntington Mills, Luzerne County, Penna."--Goss family, P. 3-4.
