Grammar Girl Is Everywhere to Help   (2011-07-21)
Grammar Girl Mignon Fogarty is the host of a wildly popular podcast (you can also read her entries on her website) and I consult her site (and her personally via Twitter) frequently for help or her opinion on a topic. I'm an English teacher, and English confuses me, so I can only imagine how helpful Grammar Girl is to the many people out there who aren't as fascinated by the English language as I am.
Enter the Quick and Dirty Tips. The focus of this book is largely on usage and common mistakes people make, such as hyper-correction or commonly confused words. Hey, "affect" and "effect" sound very similar-- we need to know which one to use when we're writing. This is a great book for everyone to have on hand: writers, students, and people who work at a desk.
Issues of comma usage, word order, and verb-subject agreement are offered in an easy-to-find, logical order and the voice Fogarty employs is fun and approachable. This is no dry grammar book.
