Abstract:

The quiet game: In Natchez, Mississippi, lawyer Penn Cage investigates a civil-rights murder which has been unsolved for thirty years and discovers an FBI cover-up; 24 hours: Will Jennings, a successful doctor in Jackson, Mississippi, and his family is about to experience the perfect crime by a man who has never been caught, and whose victims have never talked to the police; Dead sleep: Jordan Glass, a photojournalist on a well-earned vacation, wanders into a Hong Kong art museum and is puzzled to find fellow patrons eying her with curiosity. Art collectors believe female nudes depict nudes not in sleep but in death, and the face on one of the paintings seems to be her own.
