Of nine species investigated, only Schizophyllum commune grew at ψ below −4 MPa. Clitocybe aurantiaca Hygrophoropsis aurantiaca) and Dacrymyces sp. were especially sensitive to water stress. Maximum growth for seven species occurred at −0.5 MPa or higher.
