This guide includes a brief discussion of the laws pertaining to the operation of bicycles on public highways and streets; A discussion of planning considerations as an aid in assessing the need for bicycle routes of various functional types and in selecting locations for such routes; an examination of geometric and other design criteria; the presentation of guide values for certain dimensional elements; and a brief discussion of appurtenances and adminstrative considerations related to policing and maintenance.
