Correspondence, diaries, legal papers, and photos, of the Gummere, Mott, and Smith families, of New York, N.Y., and Philadelphia, Pa., chiefly Francis Barton Gummere (1855-1919), teacher of English and German at Haverford College (1887-1919), and Amelia (Mott) Gummere (1859-1937). Members of the New York Mott family and Smith family represented include Quaker minister Richard Mott (1767-1856), his wife, Abigail (Field) Mott (1766-1851), Robert F. Mott (1794-1826), and Hannah B. Mott, and Philadelphia Quaker merchant, Richard S. Smith (d. 1796), Quaker minister Hannah (Logan) Smith (1719 or 20-1761), and Margaret (Hill) Morris (1737?-1816), who was noted for her medical experience.
