Abstract:

His Serene Highness - otherwise known as plain Gregory Crowne - is on his travels, this time in Avignon where he is putting on a classical music concert for the Winter Festival. Much to his delight, his girlfriend Liz Blair has found time in her busy schedule to join him for what they hope will be a romantic interlude. But their own plans are reluctantly shelved when they are drawn into the search for a missing investigative reporter Barbara Rallenham. Alerted by Barbara's sister Mandy - a young woman with a taste for drama who appears to see Greg as her knight in shining armour - they join forces with the French Police in their inquiries. As they start to ask questions, it becomes clear that Barbara has uncovered evidence of a sinister and very dangerous plot, with implications for national security.
