Harriet Beecher Stowe (1811-1896), author of 'Uncle Tom's Cabin,' helped make the nation aware of the inhumanity of slavery through her writings.  In addition to giving an interesting portrayal of an often tumultuous life, this biography also goes into depth about the surrounding historical events...
